ClamAV a decent detection ratio on GNU/Linux, I'm not so sure about how it performs on other platforms in comparison to the proprietary vendors.
I believe it suffers on the desktop due to the fact that most users will install from trusted package providers and/or believe that there is no malware for GNU/Linux.
This blog is about the issues, benefits, opportunities etc.I think ClamAV gets a lot of unnecessary hate for being a free of charge and open source anti-malware solution with a comprehensive documentation and being completely open about its database definitions, bugs/issues, etc.
We assume for now that middleware is software such as Web services, CORBA/CCM, JavaEE, OSGi and others (please extend the scope of this blog as needed). Security for middleware in largeer IT environments is often important because confidential information is sent around between users and applications. The main security issues are (in our opinion):ġ. security mechanisms for message protection, client/target authentication, token transfer etc. (this is the easy bit, see CORBAsec as an example)Ģ.1. identity management: federated identity management has been proposed and is being used (this is the easier half of security management)Ģ.2. access management: solutions such as are available (please post other products in the comments and I will weave them in). Simplifying the management complexity is one of the main issues here.ģ. non-repudiation: this is a big questionmark I thinkĤ.
GARTNER HYPE CYCLE 2007 HOW TOĪccreditation: how to accredit a middleware based system (e.g.The hype cycle model traces the evolution of technological innovations as they pass through successive stages pronounced by the peak, disappointment, and recovery of expectations. Since its introduction by Gartner nearly two decades ago, the model has received growing interest from practitioners, and more recently from scholars. Given the model's proclaimed capacity to forecast technological development, an important consideration for organizations in formulating marketing strategies, this paper provides a critical review of the hype cycle model by seeking evidence from Gartner's own technology databases for the manifestation of hype cycles.
